First TPLO Surgery Done!
We did it! Chevy's first TPLO surgery is done and he is resting at home now. He did great at the Vet even stayed over night! He did get a little cranky about being in a kennel and decided to rip apart his soft cone early this morning. But besides that he is amazing! Chevy even walked out of the vet already putting a little weight on the leg that was just operated on! He was very excited to see us and get home. I carried my 90lb puppy up the stairs when we got home. He didn't know what to think of being in the recovery area he kept crying... So I (being the huge suck that I am) crawled in his recovery pin with him and he fell asleep in 5 min. Good thing I brought my laptop because I'm kinda stuck now. Here are some picts of the surgery and coming home.

Surgery Donations
My poor baby has been through a lot... He survived death row in Reno NV... He endured a year of torture that nearly killed him and now he has one more hurdle to overcome. He has a fully torn ACL in his right knee and a partially torn ACL in his left. The surgery he needs is called a TPLO it costs approximately $3000 per knee. We are very grateful for any and all donations.
Thank you soooo much.

Scuffle On The Morning Walk
So not the best walk ever, we ran into a friends dog... They have meet before but it didn't go well... This was their 3rd meeting and it turned in to a dog fight. Not fun at all. Chevy has a puncture wound under his jaw and lots of scratches. I took him to the vet and they gave me some meds and the good news is he dosen't need stitches! Yippy!
I also have a puncture wound on my leg and I got bit on the back of my arm. But it didn't break the skin on my arm. So note... When dogs are fighting DO NOT STICK SQUISHY LIMBS BETWEEN POWERFUL BITTING TEETH! It hurts!! I couldn't even tell you which dog bit me I put my knee right between the 2 of them... and quickly learned I'm not super woman and my legs are not actually made of steel!
Lucky for me my boss man let me go home so I could take care of Chevy.

Not the best way to start the day... Chevy already shook it off... Now it's Momma's turn...

Tow Truck
I went with Mommy to drive Daddy to work and on the way home the car was making a funny smell and it wasn't me! Mommy had to pull over and call a man with a big truck. It was hot out side so she made a shady spot for me to nap in. The tow truck driver was nice, I could smell his lunch when we got in the truck.
This is where we were stuck...
When we finally got home we went for a nice long walk in the woods. I LOVE SUMMER TIME!! Accept for these stupid fleas! Mom and I keep finding new trails to go on it's so fun!

Sunday at Cultus Lake
We went to the lake again today... Someone stole our private beach! Bastards! But we found another spot. Chevy went the furthest that he has ever gone in the water. But still kept his bum dry. I need to start swimming I know he will come with.
Later that night Chevy and I were on a walk and we saw my little brother flying over the lake. I'm so proud of him I couldn't stop smiling for our whole walk.
Take a look.

Is My Dog Part Pig?
Another beautiful day here at the lake, so we decided to try swimming again. No luck the water was a little too cold for me again and how can I convince Chevy to go in if I won't? But it will warm up soon. Chevy how ever decided to act like a piggy today rolling around in the sand! It was too funny I have never seen him do this before.

Swimming Take 2
We found out own private beach at Cultus Lake. We also did our first off leash walk in the woods and Chevy stayed nice and close to Mommy.
We are trying to teach him how to swim... It was a little too cold for me but Chevy and Dad made some progress. Tomorrow we should be getting some more sun so we will try again.

Firefighter Run
Mommy took me on her firefighter practice run today... I had to poop half way... It was funny watching Mom run with my poop in a bag. I'm exhausted now... But I did really well... No barking at other dogs.
I miss visiting my Grandpa, I can't wait for him to be home.

Bad Days...
Have you ever had a horrible day so bad you are dehydrated from crying only to get up the next day and have a second horrible day... totally unrelated to the first bad day... but combining the 2 makes you makes you feel incapable of coping with life and not wanting to wake up to see that the third day brings...
Then you puppy curls up to you and makes you want to get up the next day and make everything better.

Ouchie
So it turns out Chevy has little temper tantrums when he is on his leash or can't go see the other dog. From what I'm reading they call it "reactive on a leash" Basically he is frustrated that he can't go check out the other dog so he starts the temper tantrum of barking, pulling and whimpering... Just to make you feel worse.
I thought it was because he couldn't see the other dogs walking up and down the street. Our balcony is wood with no spaces to see out for him. (I'm going to change that soon). So today I had to wash my cars so I thought it would be a good idea to bring Chevy outside and check out people passing by. I used a nice long rope as a leash and tied the other end to my banister. (not ever leaving him alone out there). It was pretty good at first he was checking out people as they walked by but stayed close to the house. Later a neighbor ran by with a little dog and Chev took off... Forgetting he had a leash on. Poor Chevy did a back flip when he came to the end rope. He landed on is feet but he got a nice scratch on his chin. After he just got up and came back to me a little scared and unsure of what just happened. When I finished cleaning him up he put his head on my shoulder almost like he was saying sorry.
I contacted some people at hug a bull and I have been doing lots of research online about reactive dogs.
We'll see how things go. But I'm sure we can fix this.

Chevy's First Swim... Kinda
So I just adopted the most amazing dog from K9 North West, originally from California. He is the most well mannered Momma's boy ever. I couldn't ask for a better dog. But while we were out for a walk I realized I don't know if he can swim or if he even likes the water. I live on a lake so I was really hoping he does...
I'm pretty sure he likes it... just too cold right now... Might need a life jacket too.

Chevy's aka Petey History
I found Chevy's original pict from the Washo NV, Animal control. He was brought there as a stray in 2008. I tracked his microchip to this place. This was where he was on death row.
This was my puppy before he went in Marc De Luna's kennel. I wish I could see the license plate on the vehicle, I have always wanted to know where he came from.
This was taken the day he was rescued from that Marc De Luna bastard. My sweet boy, what kind of person would do this to you. I'm very thankful for LisaMarie for saving you.
I found him on the Washington listing and fell in love, but after reading his profile I wanted to find out more about his past then I found this...
I called LisaMarie and she gave me some background story and sent me some videos of Petey (Chevy) so I could know his story. I read her comments after every video and started googling this Marc De Luna guy. This was one of that pages I found... The Dark Side of Dog Rescue and then I found this...Marc De Luna South Gate Kennel Raided 60 + Dogs Impounded
It makes me sick to think this guy is till walking around free, $5000 bail and here is your hat. According to what I have read he posted bail and skipped town!!
Read this... its on the last link but really read this.
"The first picture, was taken a year ago, when Petey was pulled from a shelter in Nevada. At that time he was on death row. A "Rescue" network contacted a lady in Canada to sponsor/adopt the dog (you know - emails that beg you to help save a dog). The "Rescue" representatives told the lady that they would transport him to California were he would have a greater chance of getting adopted. They told her they knew of a "low cost/rescue friendly" boarding facility run by a trainer named Mark. They needed her to pay the boarding fee and they would help place the dog. This woman has been paying to board this dog for A YEAR! I haven't found out the name of the organization or the person's name who set-up transporting the dog and boarding him at Mark's. The lady in Canada was contacted by SEACCA because her information is on the dog's microchip! She went ballistic when she saw the pictures SEACCA sent her and started trying to find help for "Petey". This is where Lisa Marie comes in - the lady sent a " power of attorney" which allowed for pulling the dog and seeking medical care . The lady is paying all fees and is working with Lisa Marie to get the dog transported when well enough to her."
Story's I have herd...
Petey has cuts and lesions all over his face, ears, head, body, legs, and backside. His tail looks like part of it was used to feed another animal; He is oozing and bleeding from all ends, and infected in every crevice. He has no hair except small patches, and he is infected with demodex and mange. There's a tumor on the inside of his mouth and masses in his abdomen. Petey is in pain. But he is alive.
Petey was at Marc de Luna's kennel in South Gate, Southern California kennel. Animal control raided the kennel & impounded 60 plus dogs .
Petey was emaciated at 65 lb, skin was bloody & oozing from all sort of infection including mange, giardia, masses in his abdominal, tumor on right side of face. His ideal weight should be at 84 lbs.
An individual rescuer, LM, steps up to take care of Petey. LM got Petey out of the shelter to the vet. LM is asking Whiskers & Tails to help with Petey's vet bills.
From Lori
He was a Marc De Luna dog that was one of about 67 tortured dogs in South Gate, stuffed in crates in a warehouse. He was never convicted and I believe that he left the state. Poor Petey got the worst of it, he was in horrible shape.
We probably should not post the real stories about these horrible situations but we need to let people know that these people are out there telling the public that they rescue pit bulls when in reality, the torture and fight them. I’m so happy that you adopted him and gave him the chance he never hadPetey has cuts and lesions all over his face, ears, head, body, legs, and backside. God Bless you and Chevy
He was in LisaMarie's care for 8 months!! That is a long struggle to get healthy again, but LisaMarie never gave up on him. (I love this woman)
Here are some videos of Chevy's recovery
Chevy is now happily settling in to his new house in Cultus Lake BC. He amazes me every day with how sweet he is. My family was shocked to see his good nature with his history. He is a very happy and grateful puppy, and I will be writing lots and uploading lots of videos about him.
I will be updating his history as I learn more about it. If you have any information about Petey (Chevy) or Marc De Luna please e-mail me at kissingpirate@gmail.com
